Barnaby Tuttle founded Teutonic with an explicitly Germanic and Alsatian point of view, seeking out Oregon's coolest sites to make aromatic whites with real restraint and low alcohol—a deliberate counterpoint to the riper, richer styles that dominate so much of the West Coast. Crow Valley Vineyard is one of his sources for this sensibility.
This is Gewürztraminer without the heaviness the grape can sometimes carry: lychee, rose petal, and white pepper spice, kept lifted and precise by cool-climate acidity rather than dialed up into something cloying. It's aromatic but dry and food-friendly.
Pair it with Thai or Vietnamese dishes, aromatic curries, or soft washed-rind cheese.
