Simone Scaletta left a career in graphic design to farm just a few hectares on the steep slopes of Monforte d'Alba, one of Barolo's most historic villages. He works entirely by hand, farms organically, and follows a philosophy that prioritizes clarity of place over stylistic flash—Nebbiolo that's precise and elegant without sacrificing depth. Bricco San Pietro is his own vineyard, planted and worked by hand since the early 2000s.

The 2016 vintage is one of the most celebrated in recent Barolo history—slow, even ripening that produced wines with classic structure and real aging potential. Fermentation is spontaneous, and the wine ages in large neutral oak, letting the site speak clearly rather than layering on new-oak character. Expect ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and the kind of balance that rewards patience in the cellar.

Pair it with braised beef, truffle pasta, or aged Parmigiano-Reggiano.
