Marques de Murrieta Rioja Reserva 2020

Marqués de Murrieta is one of Rioja's founding estates, established in 1852 and still farming its historic Ygay estate outside Logroño. Their Reserva has been a benchmark expression of traditional Rioja for generations—Tempranillo-based, aged in a mix of American and French oak, built for both immediate enjoyment and cellaring.

This shows classic Rioja character: red cherry, dried herbs, vanilla, and a touch of leather from the oak aging. The tannins are polished, the acidity is bright, and there's this lovely balance between fruit and savory, evolved notes. It's approachable now but has the structure to keep developing.

Pair it with grilled lamb chops, aged Manchego, or roasted vegetables. This is traditional Rioja done right.
