Domaine Hudelot-Baillet Chambolle-Musigny 1ER Cru "Les Charmes" 2023

The Hudelot-Baillet domaine has been in the family for generations, but it's Dominique Hudelot who's really elevated the quality, farming organically and making wines that are pure, precise, and expressive of Chambolle's incomparable terroir.

Chambolle is the most perfumed, delicate village in the Côte de Nuits. Les Charmes is one of Chambolle's most sought-after Premier Cru vineyards, sitting mid-slope where limestone and clay soils give Pinot Noir both depth and that signature Chambolle finesse. Dominique Hudelot's parcel here is tiny but produces wine of incredible purity and complexity.

This is Premier Cru Chambolle at its finest: more concentration and structure than the village wine but retaining that perfumed, silky character. Red berry fruit, violet, forest floor, and chalk with fine-grained tannins and this beautiful mineral tension. It's got the depth to age for a decade or more but is already showing beautifully.

This deserves special treatment. Pair it with game birds, wild mushrooms, or aged Comté.
