Marcel Lapierre's delicious "Raisins gaulois" could be considered a Beaujolias by any other name. It is made from Gamay grapes sourced primarily from the Morgon cru, but is prevented from using that prestigious title because the yields from the vines exceed the limits set by law. But this is on purpose - Marcel deliberately overproduces on these vines to make a bright, fresh, crunchy style that calls to mind the Beaujolais of old, as opposed to the opulent, extracted styles of Morgon that are so fashionable today. Serve this with a slight chill with some olives and tomatoes and enjoy the end of the summer sun.
