Ex Voto is Guigal's ultra-premium Hermitage, made only in exceptional vintages from their best parcels on the hill. The 2012 vintage was outstanding in the Northern Rhône, a classic, structured vintage in the Northern Rhône. It gave wines with tension and minerality rather than pure power. This Ex Voto shows beautifully now after over a decade of aging.
The wine has evolved into something profound: the primary fruit has mellowed into darker, more savory notes of leather, tobacco, and earth while retaining that core of concentrated dark fruit. The tannins have softened beautifully, and there's this incredible complexity that only comes with age.
This is drinking in a perfect window. Decant it and pair it with game birds, braised meats, or aged Comté.
