Argyle put the Willamette Valley on the map for sparkling wine, and their Extended Tirage bottlings show why. Founded in Dundee in the 1980s by Rollin Soles, Argyle was one of the first Oregon producers to prove that this cool-climate valley could rival Champagne for traditional-method sparkling wine. Extended Tirage means exactly what it says—significantly longer time aging on the lees than their standard Brut, developing deeper complexity.
After over a decade on lees and in bottle, this 2013 shows toasted brioche, baked apple, and citrus with fine, persistent bubbles and that beautiful autolytic richness that only comes with patience. The Willamette Valley's volcanic and sedimentary soils give it a mineral backbone that keeps all that richness in check.
