2019 Albert Mann "Rosenberg" Pinot Gris, Alsace

To me Alsace has always been a region of France that offers so much value and excitement. The wines are often very underpriced for their quality because the wines that they produce have for some reason fallen out of fashion in the last twenty years, though they have never tasted better. They are insanely food friendly, as perfect for the Thanksgiving table as they are for spicy Thai takeout.

Domaine Albert Mann is an under the radar rockstar based in Wettolsheim. They cultivate a total of 21 hectares of vines in eight villages and five grand crus, adhering to biodynamic principles. From a total of 120 blocks and due to the highly complex geology, the domaine -- directed by Maurice and Jacky Bethelmé and their wives Marie-Claire and Marie-Therese for the last 25 years -- bottles about 35 different wines per year.

The Rosenberg Pinot Gris is a study in texture and beautiful richness, with mouthwatering pear and lemon and white peach and a vibrant, juicy finish that begs for some roasted chicken with mushrooms.
