The Bourdy family has been farming this land in Arlay since the late 1400s—by some accounts 1579, by others earlier still—making them one of the oldest continuously family-run wine estates in France. Sixteen generations later, the domaine is now guided by Laura Bourdy, who trained in oenology in Dijon and represents the newest chapter in a lineage that has kept working the same cellars, some barrels over 80 years old, through it all. The estate has been Demeter-certified biodynamic since 2010.

The blanc  Cotes de Jura Blanc centers on Chardonnay and Savagnin, made in the region's traditional oxidative style—aged under a veil of yeast (sous voile) in old, never-replaced barrels that the family credits with developing the wine's distinctive character over decades.

Expect hazelnut, apple, and a savory, nutty complexity from that partial oxidative aging. It's got texture, depth, and an umami-rich quality that makes it wonderful with food. The wine is built to age for decades—Bourdy's cellar holds bottles going back to the early 1900s—but it drinks beautifully now too.

Pair it with Comté cheese (the classic Jura pairing), roasted chicken with morels, or just sip it while contemplating tradition.
