Drink Fiction. Eat Tacos. And BBQ.
Spending his days as a vine nursery employee planning and planting vineyards for farmers all over California, Andrew Jones is sometimes offered small lots of their best fruit for his new side project Field Recordings. Having stood in just about every vineyard on the Central Coast, he has a keen eye for diamonds in the rough - sites that are unknown or under-appreciated but hold enormous potential. As friendships are forged and opportunities embraced, Andrew has been producing small quantities of soulful wines from these unusual, quiet vineyards.
"Pours the color of darkest night. Heady aromas of blueberry pie, luxurious suede couches, ham paninis, unlit menthol cigarettes and roquefort tarts. Firm tannins anchor flavors of grilled meats, cherry cola, sweet carob and black licorice chews, all cased up together conveniently in a cigar humidifier. Drink now. You know you're going to, anyway." -- Andrew Jones
A true "kitchen sink" blend. 36% Zinfandel, 15% Cabernet Franc, 12% Mourvedre, 12% Syrah, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Grenache, 5% Touriga Naçional, 4% Alicante Bouchet. 16 months in 100% American Oak, 20% new
This wine is just damn tasty and totally crushable. Smooth, fruit-forward, with dark chocolate covered in cranberry but with delicious savory complexity like a stick of Big Red Gum.
