The de Bouard de Laforest family at Angelus has been dedicated to the production of great wines for eight generations. Recently under the impetus of Stephanie de Bouard-Rivoal the estate created a new wine called Tempo d’Angelus. This new addition to the range of wines of the iconic Château Angélus made under the Bordeaux appellation offers a more streamlined version of its illustrious elders-Chateau Angelus Carillon d’Angelus and N°3 d’Angelus with which it shares the same depth and complexity while being at the same time more approachable young.
The grapes of Tempo d’Angelus are exclusively sourced from vines belonging to Chateau Angelus namely from plots acquired in 2017 for this very purpose and which are located in Castillon-la-Bataille and Sainte-Colombe a few kilometers from Saint-Emilion on magnificent clay-limestone slopes. It is vinified in a cellar specifically designed for it, within the 'Chai Carillon,' in which it benefits from state-of-the-art technology and all the savoir-faire of Angélus."
The 2019 Tempo d'Angélus is the inaugural vintage and is composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it skips out of the glass with exuberant scents of stewed red and black plums, kirsch and raspberry leaves, with suggestions of cracked black peppercorns, dusty soil and bouquet garni. The medium to full-bodied palate is soft and juicy fruited, featuring savory accents and bags of freshness, finishing with a peppery kick.
