A wine legend.
Haut-Brion is the only non-Médoc estate among Bordeaux's five First Growths, sitting in Pessac-Léognan on gravel soils so distinctive that urban Bordeaux has grown up around the vineyard. The estate has been making legendary wine since the 1600s—it's the oldest of the First Growths by reputation, mentioned by Samuel Pepys in his diary in 1663.
The 2020 is a profound wine even young: blackcurrant, graphite, tobacco, and that signature Haut-Brion smoky, earthy complexity that sets it apart from the Médoc First Growths. The tannins are already remarkably polished for its age, with a silky texture and extraordinary length. This is built to age for decades but shows why Haut-Brion is so revered even now.
This deserves your full attention. Pair it with dry-aged beef or simply let it speak for itself.
