The Bourdy family has been farming this land in Arlay since the late 1400s—by some accounts 1579, by others earlier still—making them one of the oldest continuously family-run wine estates in France. Sixteen generations later, the domaine is now guided by Laura Bourdy, who trained in oenology in Dijon and represents the newest chapter in a lineage that has kept working the same cellars, some barrels over 80 years old, through it all. The estate has been Demeter-certified biodynamic since 2010.

This Côtes du Jura Rouge is a traditional blend of the region's indigenous red varieties—Trousseau, Poulsard, and Pinot Noir. Expect cranberry, mushroom, forest floor, and a wonderful earthy complexity. The wine is lighter in color (Poulsard is naturally pale) but has real aromatic presence and a savory, almost umami-rich quality that makes it exceptionally food-friendly. Aged in old oak to add complexity without overwhelming the delicate fruit.

Pair it with coq au vin, hard mountain cheeses, or mushroom dishes. This is why the Jura is special.
