The Mestres family has a long and rich history, and traces the history of their winery back 29 generations to 1312. Additionally, in 1948 Josep Mestres Manobens created the very first Brut Nature sparkling wine (absolutely no addition of sugar). The 1312 Cava Reserva is named in honor of this heritage. Sourced from vineyards in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, near Barcelona, 1312 is made from Xarel-lo, Parellada, and Macabeo and is aged on the lees 20 months before disgorging by hand. The longer time aging creates very fine bubbles and an aroma of brioche in addition to classic flavors of green apple and citrus zest.
