This domaine is based in the village of Davayé, in the Mâconnais, and is jointly owned by Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray. Their 50 hectares of vineyards largely lie between the twin escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson and showcase the diverse terroirs of this region. The wines of Deux Roches are known for their drinkability and offer great value for money; the domaine is particularly known for its excellent Saint-Véran.
Christian and Jean-Luc were childhood friends that each grew up in a family of winemakers and shared a bond from a young age. They became closer still when they later married sisters Brigitte and Florence, also from a winemaking family. Following the success of Deux Roches, the friends now also boast a second property, Altugnac (Languedoc).
The "La Côte-Rotie" vineyard is located in Davayé opposite the locality "En Pommards", on the hillside on the Roche de Vergisson. The soil is made up of limestone scree facing due south and protected from north and west winds. The relief of La Roche shelters the vines from the late afternoon sun, the maturation is slow and long. The wine is aged on mostly neutral oak for a flinty freshness but lovely creamy texture.
