Xurxo Alba is a man on the move. Taking over his family's property in 2006 in the Val do Salnes subregion of Rias Baixas, Xurxo has been constantly experimenting, both in the vineyard and the cellar. After converting the vineyards to organic (no small feet in the damp, maritime region), he turned his attention to the cellar and has been making wines in a minimal intervention "natural" manner. Each parcel of vineyard is fermented separately and then Xurxo ages them in accordance to how he thinks they will show best. Some stay in stainless steel, some in barrel, some with more lees stirring, some with minimal stirring. He then blends the wines together to create what he thinks is the perfect representation of the vintage. His wines always have a beautiful mouthfeel and texture, a slightly richer style for the Val do Salnes, with a refreshing ocean spray saline finish.
