Clos des Lunes is a new project started in 2011 by Olivier Bernard, owner of the famed Domaine de Chevalier and Domaine de la Solitude in Pessac-Léognan. The vines are sourced from gravelly soils in the region of Sauternes, a region more famous for its luscious dessert wines, but that also makes outstanding dry whites. Lunes d'Argent forms the core of Clos des Lunes' production and is made from a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc which is barrel fermented with 25% new French Oak. The result is something far from your typical Sauvignon Blanc but feels very classic for Bordeaux.
Intense and complex nose of exotic white fruits and citrus fruit mixed with floral notes of linden and acacia, and a savory note of chive oil. The palate is rich, generous, ample and intensely fruity, with very good tension. The Sauvignon Blanc lemon juice delicately coats the exotic sweetness (lychee, mango) of the well-ripe Semillon. Mineral notes bringing good salinity added to this cocktail, to serve a beautiful finish. Concentration of white fruits, mineral freshness and righteousness.
