Founded in 1975 by Bernardo C. Weinert, Bodega y Cavas de Weinert is located in Mendoza, Argentina. The estate vineyards are located in the regions of Lujan de Cuyo, Maipu and Tupungato. The 2010 Malbec is made from selected vines that are 70 to 110 years old vineyards in the Maipu and Lujan de Cuyo subzones of Mendoza.
Winemaker Hubert Weber follows a minimalist approach to winemaking. The grapes are fermented in cement vats and then aged neutral, large oak of Slovenian or French origin for 2 to 4 years. This is not your typical Argentinian Malbec, but something transcendent. Deeply earthy, almost old-world like, and imminently ageworthy. Pair this with steak au poivre and watch it shine.
