The Raventos family are legendary. They have been wine growers on their 300 acre estate in the Penedes region of Spain since 1497, making Raventós i Blanc the longest documented family wine estate in the world. Additionally, Josep Raventós Fatjó is credited with making the very first bottle fermented sparkling wine in Spain, in essence inventing "cava". Their wines have ever been revered as among the very best sparkling wines in Spain.
Ever trailblazers, in 2012 Raventos i Blanc decided to stop labelling their wines as "Cava" because their were disappointed in the lack of quality of the larger industrial producers. More recently, in 2019, the majority of the quality producers of Cava followed their lead and stop labelling their wines as Cava, instead creating a new term called Corpinnat. Raventos i Blanc has not joined the Corpinnat group, but instead labels their wines by the specific region that they are located in, Conca del Riu Anoia.
The Raventos wines are made with Biodynamic practices and speak of the land their were produced on. They are always elegant with a great deal of finesse.
