The Hanzell Winery is a trailblazing producer in Sonoma county. Originally founded in 1953 they were among the first producers in the world to use stainless steel fermenters as well as temperature control to preserve freshness in their quest to make wines in mold of Burgundy. Over the years Hanzell has stubbornly remained under the radar despite continuously producing very high quality wines. In 2014 Jason Jardine was brought on as the head wine-maker ushering in a new era of quality for Hanzell with a deeper focus on Biodynamic and regenerative farming as well as minimal intervention techniques in the cellar. He has maintained the house style admirably while implementing these new techniques. The wines are always nervy and taut, acid driven and lean, with impeccable freshness. some of the very best in California! - Andy Paynter
